Submitted 2012-12-17 17:17:22 When you are not clear on the rules of English sentence structure, it is best to keep your written sentences short. Otherwise you might accidentally change your meaning. Look at this example:
Sam tripped over the dog when he was running to catch the bus and it bit him.
Did Sam trip over the dog because a bus bit him? To save hollister sale yourself from being air jordan pas cher bitten by a bus when you are writing, you need to look at the simple elements of a sentence and how they fit together.
Nouns and Verbs
Nouns are people and things. Verbs are actions. The simplest sentences consist of a noun and a verb.
Sam jumped. Sam is the noun, jumped is the verb.
Subject, Verb and Object
The subject, verb and object make up the basic bones of a sentence. air jordan The subject is the person or thing who is doing something to the object.
Sam eats cake. louboutin pas cher Anti-Ikea Sam is the subject. Eats is the verb. Cake is the object.
Modifiers
You can make your barbour pas cher soldes sentence more interesting with modifiers, or descriptive words. Adjectives give more description to nouns, and adverbs give more detail about verbs.
Sam hungrily eats delicious cake. Hungrily is the adverb. Delicious is the barbour france paris adjective.
Prepositional Phrases
A prepositional phrase will add some circumstantial information to your sentence. Sam hungrily eats delicious cake in the kitchen. The prepositional phrase, in the kitchen, is made up of a preposition jordan pas cher and a noun phrase. In is the preposition; the kitchen is the noun phrase.
The job of the preposition is to show the relationship between the noun phrase and the rest of the sentence. We understand where Sam was when he jordan was eating his cake. By exchanging in for another preposition, we could move Sam outside the kitchen, behind it or even underneath the kitchen.
Prepositions can also give information about time. Sam hungrily ate delicious cake louboutin after school. In this case, the preposition after tells jordan pas cher us when Sam ate his cake. He might have eaten it during a football game or before his favourite television show. Other prepositions can give more context to Sam's snack. Sam ate cake without a plate; Individuals who intend... or Sam ate cake despite eating biscuits first.
Adjective Clauses
Another way of adding extra information to your sentence is by using an adjective clause. Sam ate cake, which was chocolate with a cream filling, while he watched the football game. The adjective phrase, which was chocolate with a cream filling, describes the cake in greater detail. You could also use an adjective clause to describe who made the cake or what it looked like.
Check Your Phrases Match moncler Your Clauses!
When you add several phrases and clauses to your original simple sentence, check that all the verbs and adjectives match with the correct noun, so the meaning hollister deutschland is clear. By moncler pas cher Volley-ball Boudjellal en spectateur à Cannes! Cannes Nice-Matin placing an adjective clause in the wrong place, it will describe the wrong noun. Sam ate cake while he watched the football game, which was chocolate with a cream filling. By placing the adjective phrase in the wrong place, you now have a football game moncler with a chocolate and cream filling!
